The New York Model United Nations League

New York's First and Only High School Model UN League

Run for Students, by Students

Our
Mission

Our mission at the New York Model UN League, is to foster global awareness and leadership skills among students by

making Model UN more accessible for all. We aim to empower young delegates with the resources and skills they need to better tackle global challenges in the committee room and also in the real world, equipping them with the tools and experience they need and developing their abilities in diplomacy, dialogue, and collaboration.

Further, our goal is to grow NYC's Model UN community by creating a centralized network where Model UN teams can promote their conferences, learn about and attend other teams' conferences, benefit from educational and team-management resources, and receive the help they need to grow their teams, their conferences, and their ability to give their delegates the experiences they deserve. We also seek to grow Model UN beyond its existing reach. We want to inspire and support those who have been unable to or uninterested in exploring Model UN to create their own Model UN teams in their schools. As such, our website provides a comprehensive schedule of conferences, easy access to registration, and resources to support and inspire the next generation of global leaders.

Model UN or MUN is a simulation in which students learn about diplomacy, international relations, and the United Nations. Delegates are assigned countries, organizations, or individuals from past, present, and fiction, and must represent their assigned entity’s policies and viewpoints in various types of committees. Through research, public speaking, debate, and writing, delegates collaborate to solve global issues, draft resolutions and directives, and navigate the complexities of diplomacy. Model UN conferences often focus on real-world problems such as climate change, human rights, and global security, providing students with a deeper understanding of global affairs and enhancing their critical thinking, negotiation, and leadership skills.

Why join the League?

If you're part of an already established team, joining the League is a no-strings-attached way to become part of a greater Model UN community. Gain access to exclusive resources, get direct support for and promotion of your conferences, learn about any league-hosted conferences, and join a network of other teams from across NYC.

If you're looking to start your own team, we're here to help make that happen as well, with specific advice and resources from experienced team leaders.
